The following information is about Petition.
Petition Defined
The formal, written document submitted to a court, and which asks for the court to redress what is described in the petition as being an injustice of some kind. Petitions set out the facts, identifies the law under which the court is being asked to intervene, and ends with a suggested course of action for the court to consider (eg. payment of damages to the plaintiff). Petitions are normally filed by lawyers because courts insist on complicated forms but most states will allow citizens to file petitions provided they conform to the court's form. Some states do not use the word "petition" and, instead, might refer to an "application", a "complaint" or the "writ."

- Israeli doctors colluding in torture ? while world?s medical ethics chief turns blind eye by Jonathan Cook: Israel?s watchdog body on medical ethics has failed to investigate evidence that doctors working in detention facilities are turning a blind eye to cases of torture, according to Israeli human rights groups. The Israeli Medical Association (IMA) has ignored repeated requests to examine such evidence, the rights groups say, even though it has been presented with examples of Israeli doctors who have broken their legal and ethical duty towards Palestinians in their care. The accusations will add fuel to a campaign backed by hundreds of doctors from around the world to force Yoram Blachar, who heads the IMA, to step down from his recent appointment as president of the World Medical Association (WMA). More than 700 doctors have signed a petition arguing that Dr Blachar has disqualified himself from leadership of the WMA, the profession?s governing ethical body, by effectively condoning torture in Israel.
- Petition Against Badman Review: This report is a totally disproportiona te response to a 'perceive d' problem full of unsubstantiate d allegations that home educated children are more at risk than those at school. This is simply not true and enacting the recommendation s in this report would establish the state as parent of first resort. To allow LA staff access to private homes to interview ANY children (schooled or home educated) without their parents when there is no reason to suspect abuse is outrageous.
